Our competent person training program is recognized as one of the most comprehensive and accepted in the nation. The program was developed by The National Utility Contractors Association, NUCA, and is maintained and accredited by them.
NUCA maintains an alliance with OSHA to promote safety programs. All our instructors are trained and certified by NUCA and have many years of field and design experience. In addition to our many satisfied clients the program is also endorsed by Caterpillar Tractor Corporation.
Our program is a six hour lecture with group participation and a test at the end.
The subject focus is understanding of the of OSHA Subpart P-Excavations and Competent Person requirements contained in the standard.
The objective is to ascertain that the contractor is in full compliance with OSHA excavation requirements
This program makes workers aware of the dangers and consequences of excavation failures, but does not engage in fear tactics. Knowledge and understanding of what it takes to prevent accidents is far more effective.

Joe M. Turner brings 38 years of experience in building construction, underground construction, and construction engineering to the session.
In addition, Joe Turner is the author of Excavation Systems Planning and Safety, McGraw-Hill, 2008.
He is also a Licensed Civil Engineer with 20 years experience in design of excavation shoring systems. He has worked with the smallest and largest contractors in the nation.
Excavation Safety Company works on your schedule. We can schedule at your office or project site when it works best and if necessary we will try to be there tomorrow. Popular hours are 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM with pizza break for dinner or 5:00 AM to Noon. This allows workers to complete part of their work day and share time costs with the employer.
